This workshop examines some beautiful Irish melodies written during the 19th century to accompany heartfelt, emotional lyrics. We will also explore techniques such as phrasing and varying dynamics to enhance the expressiveness of the music. Tunes covered may include Spancil Hill, The Rose of Aranmore, The Last Rose of Summer, All Those Endearing Young Charms, The Boys from Wexford, and The Maids of Mourn Shore (Down by the Salley Gardens). (DAd tuning). A recording of the workshop will be available for at least 6 weeks after the festival.
