Peach Jam is happening this year on the weekend of October 13 at FDR State Park. Come join us amid changing fall colors and play. The focus is changing this year to just jamming. There will be no prep for any performance. We want to have relaxed jamming starting as early as Wednesday for any campers who want to join Peggy Martin at FDR. Friday night is usually a good time jam for campers.
Saturday will have just a bit of structure. We plan to jam at the shelter in Camping Area #2 starting after breakfast. For some people that will be at 9 AM or so. Others may want to join by 10 AM. There will be a pot luck lunch around 12 noon, give half an hour or so. And in the afternoon, more jamming! No performance in an amphitheater, just jamming until...
So bring your dulcimer(s) and other instruments -- even a banjo, if you dare. Bass fiddle? Guitar? Washtub bass? Fiddle? Flute? You bet! Bring some favorite tunes you want the group to jam with also. Not music as such. Just tunes in your head.
If you want to camp, the State Park System has instituted changes on how you make reservations for camp sites. You must choose a designated camp site, not just any old one. So you will need to call park reservations at 800-864-7275 to make a reservation and pay for it. Or you may go online to "gastateparks.org" to make and pay for a reservation for a designated site. (I found the trail map on the FDR sub-web site very useful. If you find you must cancel, you must do so thirty days beforehand or forfeit your deposit. Sorry. That is not NGFDA's policy. Again, the state now requires that you reserve a designated site and pay for it ahead of time.
Hurry to make a reservation if you plan to attend Peach Jam and camp at FDR. Camping sites are going fast even now. Come August, there may not be any left.
